What is CBD?
-
CBD stands for Cannabidiol, the non-intoxicating compound and one of many cannabinoids, found in Marijuana and Hemp: Cannabis Sativa plant family.
-
The main ones being THC and CBD. Marijuana plant = THC, whereas the Hemp plant = CBD. The THC is what gets one stoned or high.
-
Hemp based CBD, is Federally legal all 50 states if it is tested to have LESS than .3% THC. (A few states have own laws)
-
Full Spectrum/Whole Plant contains all the cannabinoids including THC, and terpenes (flavors & scents.) All the compounds work together better, creating Entourage Effect.
-
Broad Spectrum eliminates the THC only,
-
CBD Isolate is an extract of only the CBD. FDA approved new drug, Epidiolex is made from isolate.
-
CBD from Hemp is concentrated in the stems, leaves and flowering tops of the plant, NOT in seeds. Hemp seed oil by itself is NOT CBD, it is used in cooking & lotions.
HOW does CBD Work……Internally
The Endocannabinoid system (ECS) discovered in the 1960’s by Israeli Scientist, started being researched in the US in 1990’s.
A network of receptors controlling vital life functions including: pain sensation, anxiety/depression, sleep pattern, immune system, inflammation, seizures. THC works with CB1 receptor, CBD works with CB2 receptor (mostly responsible for the above.)
While CB1 (THC's receptor) is more highly expressed in the brain and spinal cord, CB2 (CBD's receptor) is located in the periphery, including the tonsils, spleen, thymus, pancreas, and other immune-oriented organs.
Our body makes cannabinoids called endocannabinoids, we get some from food, HOWEVER, most of us are deficient, usually because of poor nutrition and/or prolonged exposure to psychological and/or physical stress or disease.
Internally produced cannabinoids, respond significantly to plant-based cannabinoids (Cannabis) to reignite a beaten down system. They can help keep receptors working at optimal capacity to help balance the body’s central regulatory system and help regain homeostasis.
The cannabinoids interact with the receptors, much like a lock and key. We are wired for this plant, it’s like turning a key in a lock.
HOW does CBD Work……Externally
Skin has largest number of CB2 receptors. When CBD infused topicals are applied to the skin, it uses its anti-inflammatory properties to provide pain relief to a specific area.
CBD creams/lotions/oils/patches don’t act transdermally, don’t pass through skin and into bloodstream. (Needs an added emulsifier/chemical compound) Topically applied CBD is only absorbed into the top 3 layers of the skin.
CBD powerfully protects skin and neutralizes free radicals due to its numerous vitamins and fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6) and their roles as antioxidants.
Studies show CBD has a high potential for treating skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and acne by encouraging abnormal cell death.
Customer Testimonial:
Carol suffered from non-responsive, total body psoriasis for over 35 years and has been just treating the symptoms. I watched as she applied a CBD topical to her arm's and leg's scabby patches, and immediately felt a decrease in the horrible itching that is constant with this condition. With other natural healing therapies & using the topical, she has put her disease in remission. “The CBD products are probably what is keeping me out of the “rubber room” or worse.”

What Works Best For What
For pain management, both topical and oral CBD work well, typically proving the most effective relief when utilized together.
Ingested CBD assists in the diminishing of symptoms from pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia. AND it fights inflammation. Taken everyday like a vitamin is best.
Topicals work great at reducing inflammation, managing arthritis, helping headaches, cramping and migraines.
What to Look for in Products
CBD is the component, measured by milligrams in different types of products, used internally & externally. Look for Hemp (or Marijuana products) that are preferably full spectrum, organically & sustainably grown in the US and 3rd party tested.
If source is not stated, it could be from China with high lead/contaminants in soil. Dispensaries in (legal states) have excellent products but be wary of online gimmicks (Amazon) that are cheap or offer free trial.
All products need to have the amount of milligrams that are of CBD, not % or amount of the Hemp oil.

Dosage Guide
Internal Application:
Start Small – 5-12mg, in late afternoon, early evening. Measure how you feel. It affects everyone differently, most feel relaxed. Try small dose for a few days, take more if needed. Gradually increase dose and monitor how you feel. Trick is to find sweet spot where you can feel improvement. Good to take with a healthy fat.
CBD doesn’t cure anything but can help improve your health and skin gradually, offering reduced pain/anxiety, more energy, less fatigue and good sleep.
Most people with bad pain/anxiety, a daily dose of approx. 10–50mg (full spectrum) can work. Or take a smaller amount for daily maintenance and more on the days of bad pain or other conditions.
CBD should be taken hour + before/after taking medications, especially that say No Grapefruit.
Don’t take with supplements.
External Application
